Santa Barbara Beach House, Source 4 Interiors Showroom, All Luxurious Outdoor Furnishings at Exceptional Pricing

Here is an article from Veranda that I thought was pretty interesting. This shore-hugging, one-story house communes with the outside via wall-to-wall windows looking out on the ocean, nearby Santa Cruz Island and the Santa Ynez Mountains. This is a true California Beach house.

You Could live in Beautiful New Mexico the HGTV Green Home for 2010 in Santa Fe City, NM if you love design you will want to take a look at the new HGTV Green Home.   This beautiful home has lot of lovely features to offer.  Here are some of the features of the new home due to be given away to some lucky person in around 45 days or so.

HGTV Dream Home 2010

Dreamhome 2010

The Sunrise room is the place in the home to get away and be quiet.  I love the windows again as it allows you to sit and be quiet and just enjoy the outdoors.

About the Sunrise Room:
Surrounded by walls of windows that overlook the desert courtyard, the sunrise room is designed for early-morning contemplation. A soft suede reclining chair and high-pile area rug underfoot begs one to relax. A dramatic wood sculpture connects this indoor space to the desert landscape. “I saw it at a gallery in Texas and knew exactly where it should go,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum. “It looked to me like a piece of wood from the desert. And I just loved it.”

Dreamhome 2010 Sunrise Room

Master Bathroom

About the Master Bathroom:
A soft palette of sage green, sand and silver sets the backdrop for a Zen space complete with a glass-enclosed shower and an 8-foot Silestone-topped counter. Interior designer Linda Woodrum’s favorite feature? “I love the bathtub with the barn doors that open up so you see out to the bedroom and out the window,” she responds. “It’s such a fun, unexpected thing and it makes you smile. I think those smiles are very important.”

Dreamhome 2010 Master Bathroom

About the Master Suite:
The room scheme started with the wrought iron and steel chandeliers, dripping with crystals. Then came the leather headboard with nailhead trim, followed by luxurious silk bedding. The sage-green wall color, inspired by desert vegetation, was chosen to tone the space. “It was, ‘pull in one male thing and pull in one girl thing’,” explains interior designer Linda Woodrum of her selection process. “So you get that balance going back and forth.”

Dreamhome 2010 Master Bedroom Suite

About the Master Closet:
Dubbed the “ultimate closet” by interior designer Linda Woodrum, HGTV Dream Home 2010’s oversized dressing room accommodates a large clothing collection with storage shelves, drawers and pull-out bins, shoe racks and a center island.

Dreamhome 2010 Master Closet

I love the open spaces in the Entry Hall.  The colors and textures are so peaceful.

About the Entry Hall:
“It’s all about the views —- of the high desert, the mountains and the sky that goes on forever,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum when describing the warm and inviting entry that greets guests and sets a tone, yet does not compete with spectacular scenery that surrounds HGTV Dream Home 2010.

About the Kid’s Bedroom
Interior designer Linda Woodrum was searching for a reason to use Ethan Allen’s Quincy bed. “I’ve always loved that bed,” she says. “I used it in another house in Colorado years ago.” Paired with turquoise walls, sherbet-orange bedding and toys galore, the traditional furnishing takes on a fresh, out-of-this-world vibe that even Woody and Buzz would love.

Dreamhome 2010 Kids Bedroom

I love the layout of this office.  It is very organized and flows really well.  I love the oversized doors in the room which help the room not feel cramped.   The windows give the room a really nice touch.

About the Home Office:
Designed to accommodate both the home business owner and parents who enjoy working on projects with kids, the home office — complete with shelving, storage baskets and a large dining table-turned-desk — keeps clutter at bay and the mind focused. “I feel like the less mess you have around you, the calmer you feel and the more you feel like you can conquer,” adds interior designer Linda Woodrum.

Dreamhome 2010 Office

If you like wide open spaces you will love the courtyard entering into the house very open and spacious.

Dubbed the “infinity courtyard” for paved surfaces that seems to fade gracefully into the desert landscape, the motor court serves as an extension of the adjoining dining room. “The courtyard is truly an outdoor room,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum. “That courtyard is a beautiful space.”

This is a very unique dining room.  I love the glass doors with the must see view.  Especially when the sun is going down I am sure it is just a one of a kind view.  I like how the dining room is very simple has straight lines very mellow walls and the room is very cozy and is just off the entry hall area so you are looking out and really enjoying the space.

About the Dining Room:
Serving as a pathway to the courtyard, the dining room features earthy textures and low-key artwork, furnishings and accessories that calm the eye. “That room was to be very subtle and very low key,” explains interior designer Linda Woodrum. “We chose a pale palette so the focus is on the view.”

Dreamhome 2010 Dining Room

The best room in the house is the Kitchen.   The lovely color combination and again the windows really make the room.   It is a lovely use of space.

About the Kitchen:
The room’s “wow” factor, aside from the breathtaking view? The 16-foot-tall wall covered in custom tile, crafted by local artist Erin Adams. “I think turquoise is very significant to the area,” explains interior designer Linda Woodrum. “And how do you use it without it being overwhelming and becoming a cliché? You find ways to work it into the design. That tile was just such a perfect way.”

Kitchen with a 16 foot high wall of turquoise tile and an oversized Island, this modern cook space doubls as party central

Walk-Through Pantry, Butlers Pantry

About the Great Room:
“I love the great room,” says interior designer Linda Woodrum when reflecting on her favorite HGTV Dream Home interior. “I think it’s phenomenal. It functions beautifully. I love the big open space.” The stylish seating area, tucked into the corner of a wall of windows, exudes a modern Southwest style.

Really nice utility room for doing your Laundry.

Clean, uncluttered and tucked in their own private spaces, the wash rooms make management of household chores effortless. “The HGTV Dream Home has two laundry rooms and that means convenience and clean clothes add to the dream,” states interior designer Linda

Dreamhome 2010 Laundry Room

I really enjoy the quest bedroom as it looks like a very tranquil place for your friends and family to stay lovely lilac colors with white bedding really make the room fresh and very comfy to settle in.

About the Guest Bedroom:
Interior designer Linda Woodrum envisioned one room in a purple hue. “The sky, when the sun sets, is this mass of lavender. And I thought, ‘Oooh, we have to do a lavender room,’” she recalls. Pencil post twin beds, paired with touches of silver, bold stripes and bright accent colors, provide a modern vibe. “I liked the architectural feeling of the four-poster beds and the way they fill up the space without being cumbersome.”

Dreamhome 2010 Guest Suite

I love this Theater room and  the cork floors  really help with the sound in the room the color choices are just delicious and very soothing.  Very good color choices.

About the Home Theater:
Cork flooring doubles as an acoustic wall treatment in the home theater, where cozy cream chaises and tiered end tables can be rearranged to suit family activities. “The ceiling is sky blue,” adds interior designer Linda Woodrum. “Then we did framed pictures of the area, so when the lights come on, you don’t feel like you are completely disconnected from the outside. You still have a sense of being in the high desert.”

Bissell is a big part of the HGTV Dreamhome I love all their products they offer and they have a new PROlite vacuum that is really lightweight and really an awesome product.  In the Kitchen some Wolf Appliances were used.  Some of the furnishings for the Dreamhome 2010 can be found at Ethan Allen

The theme was “Modern Style Meets Mountain Views,” and the results are breathtaking.

A pair of our Rand wing chairs face the cozy gas fireplace, offering, as Interior Designer Linda Woodrum describes it, “a more intimate space.”

“The contemporary design of the house decrees that you keep it simple and clean,” she says.

We were happy to help. Well-chosen accents in the foyer add just the right light, organic touch and help set the tone for what lies within.

The true star of the great room is its stunning view of the desert landscape. The lucky winner will get to soak up that view in comfort and style – our Monterey sofas in soft, rich brown bring a neat metropolitan vibe.

A cool, confident mix of materials and lines works beautifully in this modern space. Take in an unusual accordion shape here, the glint of polished nickel there, and the dramatic display of two reclaimed oak coffee tables – each one unique, made of 100% reclaimed wood set into an iron base – used together to great effect.

We also love how Ms. Woodrum and her team wove some of our most adventurous accessories throughout the HGTV Dream Home. In the great room, the cow print pillow and geometric floor lamps with the whipstitched vellum shades are rustic, modern, and absolutely perfect.

As a primary furnisher of past HGTV Dream Homes, we look forward to the creative challenge year after year, and we hope you’ll love the outcome as much as we do. Only one lucky person can win the HGTV Dream Home 2010, but we think of every home as a dream home in the making – wherever you live, however you live, let Ethan Allen help you dream big!   Don’t waste any time check it out and register today!

Christmas Decor| Home Accessories| Decorating| Bay Leaf Wreaths

As Christmas approaches I always want to get a Bay Leaf Wreath and all the trimmings for the inside of my home so you can smell Chrismas and see Christmas.  I love all the Red’s and Greens that go with Christmas.  At  Williams-Sonoma they offer a variety of products and the Bay Leaf Wreath  The sweet herbal scent of bay leaves is one of the season’s most pleasing aromas. We first offered this exquisitely aromatic wreath to our customers 35 years ago, and over time it has become a holiday tradition for many. Woven from boughs of California bay laurel in two sizes, it’s still shipped to you directly from McFadden Farm in Northern California to ensure freshness. The leaves will dry naturally and can be used in cooking throughout the year. The wreath is intended for use indoors or in a sheltered outdoor location.

Magnolia and Pomegranate Wreath from Williams-Sonoma is In American colonial times, glossy green magnolia leaves were often used to “deck the halls” during the holiday season. This handsome wreath continues that tradition: Fresh-picked magnolia leaves are combined with red pomegranates – a symbol of plenty and regeneration – along with seeded eucalyptus, dried pepperberries and purple and green hydrangea blossoms. Hand made on a family-owned farm in California, the fresh wreath will dry beautifully over time. 20″ diam.

Pottery Barn $89.00 - $199.00I love pottery and ceramics! especially anything that shows some age, and hand hewned qualities. They can be used in many decorating styles, and the contents can be changed out to match the season. Make use of those broken tree branches that come with Fall's breezy weather by artfully arranging them in beautiful rustic pottery. Bring in some fresh cut flowers, greenery, or use dried elements. Try your favorite plant, or fill top with fruits, or ornamentals of the season. Like; Cat Tails, Pinecones, or Topiaries for example.
