Aubergine Emporium

Simi Valley, CA is a gem of a city nestled as its name says in its own little valley in the outer regions of Ventura County, in California. It’s a small town, with Big appeal and one of the things I find so appealing are the amount of diverse antique Shoppe’s for a town of its size, ranging from the cluttered, scavenger hunt “Pick your way through” variety to the more polished and refined “don’t touch anything” type, and a bit of everything in between, but I must say, time and time again I’m drawn back to one of my favorites, and that being the lovely “Aubergine Emporium” Located on the corner of Valley Fair St and the old lamp lined Tapo Street.

Amongst all the amazing vendors who have carved out their own niches and artfully placed their finds, there is an overall artistic feel about the place that comes from the hands of owner, and artisan; Pat Berry, who keeps the décor fresh and inventive constantly. Pat is one talented lady, with an amazing eye for design that keeps you interested in what’s around the next corner of her fantastic store, and never ceases to amaze me with what she comes up with! So, If you’re ever in the Simi Valley area and want a fun antique adventure, I encourage you to drop in and browse around, you’ll be happy you did!

Bloom Where You’re Planted

I’ve heard this motto for a while now, “Bloom where you’re planted” and never before have I felt the need for it so strongly. It’s all about being the best you, whatever the circumstances, and living in the moment. So, I’m welcoming the Spring, with all its potent possibilities, as a time of renewal, and fresh starts. I’m sure we’re all in need of a little R&R, and the first wafts of Spring are hitting me in a big way, saying, “get out and about! Take in some of God’s green Earth, stop and smell the roses…literally.” I think I’m sorta craving a Spring road trip or a simple Spring brunch outing, with all of the fresh fruits and veggies of the seasons bounty, or maybe a trip to Disneyland (I know, I’m spoiled to have it so within reach, living here in L.A.) or a little gardening and kicking back with a good read, maybe just play, enjoy my family or have a good snooze….Whatever it is I end up doing to recharge, I’m going to take the time to just breathe and “be” in the moment… I hope you find some time to do the same. Pretty in Pink

Being a member of the “Pinterest” community, you see a lot of beautiful images of all sorts, and one reoccurring theme amongst many members, are color boards! All the colors of the rainbow that pinners, pin and repin, but I would have to say the majority lean towards, “Pink” as their color board of choice, in which you will find items from apples to zebra print rugs all in, Pink! So, seeing all those “pretty in pink” images has me itching to decorate something in Pink! I admit it, I’m sort of a girly, girl…and I do like pink, but even from a decor standpoint I  think, Pink makes for a great accent piece and a nice little pop of color, as well as it being beautiful and even chic if used right without going overboard.
