What has this got to do with draperies. One tip we will share with you is that you never want your drapes to be too short. If you wouldn’t wear them then your window shouldn’t have to either.

Always make sure that you drapes touch the floor. If you want a more elegant look you can have them extend out an inch to puddle on the floor.

Ugh! The doorknob dented the wall, thanks kids. We have all experienced this at one time or another with children in the house. They opened the door too hard against the wall and bang, a dent.

A phone call to a contractor and $150 later it is fixed. What? No thank you I will handle this myself, and you can.

Two off the shelf items kept in your garage or closet can take care of this problem and many more in the future.

The first one is a small tub of ready mix drywall wall compound. It comes with a resalable lid and you just use a putty knife.

The second thing you need is a can of drywall spray texture. You can find this at most hardware stores. It has an adjustment dial to match your wall texture. All you have to do is shake, spray and maybe smooth it out with a trowel.

This is a easy as it sounds, and if you mess up you can wipe off, sand and redo the area as many times as you want till you are satisfied. Good luck!

Summer is coming upon us and we are all looking forward to enjoying our outdoor patios even more. It might be time to replace the outdoor cushions and pillows or just brighten up the look with some new pillow fabric. Some tidbits for you to know when you are replacing your outdoor upholstery fabrics.

Use only outdoor rated upholstery fabric. Sunbrella repels water and is UV and mildew resistant.

Select only filler material that is outdoor rated foam and filler.

Zippers made out on non ferrous materials, i.e.; stainless steel.

Cushions and pillows that allow you to remove the fabric to wash.

These seem like a no brainer to most people but many manufacturers offer products that don’t meet these guidelines. In the long run they cost more by wearing out quicker and are just not as healthy with the bacteria and mold that can accumulate in the cushion and surface. Enjoy the sunshine!
